NYC Day 2

May 11, 2018
Saturday

Today it felt like we slept in forever. We stayed up too late enjoying our view of the Chrysler building and our foot of the bed tv. Haha. Jeff was up reading when my eyes decided to note the time. So I went back to sleep since he could get the baby if he decided to wake up before I did. I ended up waking up before Easton even did. He is a champion!

We slowly got up, showered, and made our way for breakfast in which of course Easton made a dashing display. Jeff showered while Easton ate so when he finally made it up we were able to eat. They had a really good breakfast.

We finally made it out the door and Jeff really wanted to take the ferry; so that we did. It was a beautiful day out. It took MAYBE 7 minutes to get to the dock and it drops you off at the World Trade Center. Right where we needed to be. First stop was the World Trade Center memorial. It was absolutely beautiful. Then on to St. Paul’s Church. The church Washington attended and prayed on after he was sworn in. We suckered Easton into falling asleep at the church and then moved  on to federal hall. The original national Capitol and where Washington was sworn in as the first president of the United States. It is not the original building but there is still a building to honor the site. We stopped for a couple grilled cheeses and then tried to figure out if we could get on to Staten Island or Ellis Island.

You have to go all the way to battery park and then get tickets at the Clinton castle. After that, you get the TRUE immigration experience and get packed in lines like sardines that go on for at least an hour. People are not very kind or give you much space. Then you’re packed into one door and have to do airport style security by unpacking, unloading, and screening everything and everyone. Jeff and I were separated. So I had everything and the baby. Once we survived that we have to wait in another line to get to the boat. In all honesty, the lines moved fairly fast for the amount of people that board each time. But it always feels like it takes much longer knowing that Easton could blow any second.

Once we got on the boat it was smooth sailing. It was so cool seeing everything from the river and Easton loved the wind in his face. We got to Staten Island and headed straight for the gift shop…. we are so lame. Haha. We found our patches and then got ice cream, found a good spot of grass, and ate it. I was really wanting to go to Ellis Island. I didn’t even want to do Staten Island. Just Ellis island. But we missed the last boat to Ellis island by literally two seconds. The mean gate lady closed the gate on us. A park ranger said there is suppose to be a way to get to Ellis island from Jersey for free. So we will see. I would hate to have to pay all that money again to get there. And have to walk to Battery Park again haha.

Once we got off the boat back in NYC. We got suckered into the character people at the dock. I’ve always wanted to get cartoonized. So we said heck, why not. We just unfortunately got the worst artist of the group but it was still fun. We will keep it. Paid $50 bucks for it………

We slowly made our way back to the dock to take us back to Exchange place and just enjoyed our view.

We stopped for dinner at PotBelly’s again. Coming in clutch lol.
