Saturday
Tennessee to Virginia
Today we slept in a little and got breakfast at the hotel before we headed to Monticello. It was a huge blessing that we drove to Knoxville to stay because we never would have made it!
We made it to Monticello at 3:47 and we had to be there at 3:45!!!! Jeff killed it. He shaved a good ten minutes off of google’s predicted time.
The time shave came with a price though. No breaks. Poor Easton had 5.5 hours without any breaks! He did so good though! I was really worried that today he would be a NIGHTMARE but he honestly did awesome. The only thing he wanted to do when we got there was walk and walk and walk. Flying in by the seat of our pants didn’t give him very much time to get his wiggles out before our house tour. So he was one of monsterous.
Luckily though, they have the BEST people at Monticello and to spare the group and us, they set us up with Don to give us a private tour separating us from the rest of the group. This was way lucky because we got to go where most don’t, like the room the Madison’s stayed in. Don was very very nice and so patient with our devil child. Jeff was in heaven. The House was absolutely beautiful and had us oohing and ahhhing the whole time. Now I want a house made of octagons and breezeway lol.
After the House we just walked the grounds and took pictures until it was time for the shuttle to take us down to the main visiting center.
We spent a few minutes in the gift shop and then headed on our way to Arlington. We rolled in around 8:45 and got the sweetest room. It’s a king suite with a full kitchenette in it. The bed is awful but the room is spacious enough for Easton to run around and mess things up. Easton finally went to bed around 10:45. I did not make it much long after. Haha
